Is life about staying where you are right now? Or is it looking ahead and booking tickets to the next flight??

I am not sure how many of you have pondered over the question above; I certainly have and can’t seem to figure out which option is the best. Now since there are 2 options so there are 2 schools of thought:
¶ Plan today for tomorrow and,
¶ Why worry about tomorrow and spoil today. Live for the moment. Chintamani can very well die if he wants to worry about tomorrow
Though to be honest I have always believed in the second school of thought, at least till I was in college (first half of 3rd year). At that time the world could wait, I was the king of my life. All the decisions were so centric about what implications would it have on me today or better still what implications will it have on me at this moment. Tomorrow was never seen or discussed. Only thing discussed about tomorrow was that are we coming to college tomorrow.
Even during those times there were several instances or I should say signs that clearly hinted if not screamed “ONLY IF YOU HAD THOUGHT ABOUT TOMORROW” but then who looks at signs in college? If I tell this is to a college goer now he will laugh on my face. Anyhow, I think the best teacher is time and when it hits you even GOD has a tough time saving you. And I will be lying if I said I have not been slapped at least twice if not more till now (god do we ever learn??). But then I have also realized that worrying about tomorrow has not helped me either.
There have been times when I have planned about everything to the point. But either someone or again time reminded me dude let it be, enjoy today forget about tomorrow. I don’t know how to resolve this dilemma.
I know one thing that it is only in retrospection that you realize you have lived the time of your life. When I entered college it was always 11th and 12th classes I missed the most but in school it was all about college. When I was in 3rd year the buzz word doing the rounds was “WHAT NEXT”, don’t know about others but I was as clueless about it as I was on the first day of my college. So did I waste my 3 years in college? After all who will believe me when I tell them that I have spent 3 years in one of the most reputed colleges in Delhi University but I still don’t know what next. I don’t know come to think of it I would not have worried about it then also had it not been the people around me crying everyday about where they will land up tomorrow. I don’t know why I didn’t ask them this then that did they worry about going to which school? I sometimes wonder as we grow old we tend to create a whole new complex world around us, only good thing about that world is that it’s imaginary but its implications are real. The world of tomorrow…..world of what next…..world of always wanting something. Now the funny thing about getting something is that you try to hard to reach somewhere that you forget to enjoy your way to that place and when you reach that place you worry about “WHAT NEXT”. I tried to pause sometimes and enjoy the journey but it is not easy, more so because as I travel I take people with me who rely on me to take them to the next station. They may or may not like a slow journey. So what do I do?
One way would be to pick only those people on your way who are also interested in journey as much as you are. But that’s an ideal scenario with every thing else remaining constant, now is it that possible? Other way is to plan your trip in such a way that everyone is taken care off. But then it brings me back to the main question. Plan or not.
If I talk about myself and my life I think all the important milestones in my life came unannounced. I had not planned for anything. On the contrary things I really planned about have never worked. So I guess for me its no plans and live life as it comes.
I dont even know what I am talking is making sense at all. I have been trying to write this for a long time now. Started one day when I was drunk guess would have to drink again to finish it.
